This is my lettering piece inspired by the song "Man In The Mirror", with the image from Cottonbro Studio. The Inspiration
Despite our different music tastes, my family and I can always agree on
one artist—Michael Jackson. One of my most cherished memories is singing
his music in the car together.
"Man in The
Mirror" is a personal favorite of mine. Its message of taking charge
of our lives and actions resonates with me. That's why I decided to
create a lettering piece featuring the lyrics.
I'm starting with the man in the mirror I'm asking him to change his ways No message could've been any clearer If you wanna make the world a better place Take a look at yourself and then make the change
The Process
I knew a mirror had to be incorporated into the design, but it was
challenging to visualize without a reference image. After some
sketching, I decided to find a suitable image before finalizing the
composition.
I had three options to choose from.
First option
The first one was great, but the lighting would be too distracting.
The Second Option
The second one resembled MJ's iconic pose, but the mirror wasn't
prominent enough for the self-reflection theme.
The Third Option
The last one was my pick, with enough space for the lyrics and a
clear self-reflection vibe.
Choosing the lettering styles was the final step, and I'm quite pleased
with the result, considering it only took me less than two hours to
complete.
