Pride Month Music 09-Drag Queen by Chris Housman
Music LetteringHappy Pride Month! 🌈🏳️🌈
As we approach the end of Pride Month, I’m creating lettering pieces celebrating music related to LGBTQIA+ community. My goal is to expose people to good music and artists while also help bringing the community filled with diversity together, since music is like a universal language that can touch anyone’s heart.
I really love Guilty as Sin and The Bible Belt by Chris Housman—both are incredible songs for LGBTQIA+ community. However, I chose to do the lettering for Drag Queen because there are so few songs that celebrate drag queens, and I wanted to help promote this amazing track!
What I truly admire about Drag Queen is how it tells the story from an outsider’s perspective, highlighting how much self-confidence and self-assured aura a drag queen radiating for them. It’s such an inspiring and uplifting tribute!
For the lettering, I want it to be as vibrant as possible, representing the colorful life, especially the pink, of drag queens. Additionally, I have layered multiple levels beneath the text “Drag Queen” to symbolize the complex, multifaceted lives of these individuals. This creates an eye-catching composition that celebrates the vibrancy, flamboyance, and multifaceted nature of drag culture.

He's teacher of the yearAnd royalty as well'Cause every now and thenMichael becomes MichelleA little red wineTo wind down his dayWith a lot of eye shadowBut he never throws shadeHe reaps what he sowsAnd sews his own dressesThe wig glue of the familyAlways cleaning up messesPuts on a faceAnd one hell of a showAnd everybody round here knows
She's a drag queen but she ain't no dragLace-up front with a pony in the backPeople try and knock her down all the timeBut in her high heels she's still 6'5She wouldn't hurt a soul or kill a flyBut she murders on the stage every Saturday nightThe kind of woman lotta men wish they could beAin't no dragging down a drag queen
She's more dolled up than DollyAnd you should see her danceTriple threat with a micAnd the room in her handShe's sharp as a tackMore funny than mostBut thinking she's a dangerIs one hell of a joke

Folks will say what they sayAnd think what they thinkBut she'll be sitting prettyWhile she's sipping a drink
