Pride Month Music 09-Drag Queen by Chris Housman

Music Lettering

Happy Pride Month! 🌈🏳️‍🌈

As we approach the end of Pride Month, I’m creating lettering pieces celebrating music related to LGBTQIA+ community. My goal is to expose people to good music and artists while also help bringing the community filled with diversity together, since music is like a universal language that can touch anyone’s heart.

I really love Guilty as Sin and The Bible Belt by Chris Housman—both are incredible songs for LGBTQIA+ community. However, I chose to do the lettering for Drag Queen because there are so few songs that celebrate drag queens, and I wanted to help promote this amazing track!

What I truly admire about Drag Queen is how it tells the story from an outsider’s perspective, highlighting how much self-confidence and self-assured aura a drag queen radiating for them. It’s such an inspiring and uplifting tribute!

For the lettering, I want it to be as vibrant as possible, representing the colorful life, especially the pink, of drag queens. Additionally, I have layered multiple levels beneath the text “Drag Queen” to symbolize the complex, multifaceted lives of these individuals. This creates an eye-catching composition that celebrates the vibrancy, flamboyance, and multifaceted nature of drag culture.
Drag Queen by Chris Housman

He's teacher of the year
And royalty as well
'Cause every now and then
Michael becomes Michelle
A little red wine
To wind down his day
With a lot of eye shadow
But he never throws shade
He reaps what he sows
And sews his own dresses
The wig glue of the family
Always cleaning up messes
Puts on a face
And one hell of a show
And everybody round here knows

She's a drag queen but she ain't no drag
Lace-up front with a pony in the back
People try and knock her down all the time
But in her high heels she's still 6'5
She wouldn't hurt a soul or kill a fly
But she murders on the stage every Saturday night
The kind of woman lotta men wish they could be
Ain't no dragging down a drag queen

She's more dolled up than Dolly
And you should see her dance
Triple threat with a mic
And the room in her hand
She's sharp as a tack
More funny than most
But thinking she's a danger
Is one hell of a joke

She's a drag queen but she ain't no drag
Lace-up front with a pony in the back
People try and knock her down all the time
But in her high heels she's still 6'5
She wouldn't hurt a soul or kill a fly
But she murders on the stage every Saturday night
The kind of woman lotta men wish they could be
Ain't no dragging down a drag queen

Folks will say what they say
And think what they think
But she'll be sitting pretty
While she's sipping a drink

She's a drag queen but she ain't no drag
Lace-up front with a pony in the back
People try and knock her down all the time
But in her high heels she's still 6'5
She wouldn't hurt a soul or kill a fly
But she murders on the stage every Saturday night
The kind of woman lotta men wish they could be
Ain't no dragging down a drag queen
